"Shikishima (Missing Slipcase)" is a collection of works by Japanese female photographer Tamiko Nishimura. Born in Tokyo in 1948, she graduated from Tokyo Photography College in 1969. She began photographing underground theater troupes during her student days, and after graduation, she continued to photograph while working part-time jobs, bringing her work to camera magazines, and going on photography trips when she received her manuscript fee. Since the 1990s, she has continued to travel energetically, visiting Europe and South America. Since 2000, she has published a number of collections of her work, mainly focusing on the works she had taken up until that point, and most recently, she released "Travel Diaries," a collection of images taken during her travels in Asia and Europe from the late 1980s to recent years. This book is the first book published by the vocational school to which Nishimura belonged, and is a long-awaited reprint of the collection that had now become a phantom. The book is composed of photographs taken during a trip from Hokkaido in the north to the Chugoku region in the south around 1970, and has a documentary feel to it, using avant-garde techniques that combine high-contrast and close-up images reminiscent of Daido Moriyama and others with the countryside depictions of Kazuo Kitai and others. Signed by the photographer (but without case) .
