A photo book by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers, "Hana-Jinsei (Signed)". This book is a photo book published in conjunction with exhibitions held at the Kyoto Museum of Contemporary Art and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, with the theme of "flowers", which Araki has been photographing for many years. Araki began photographing flowers in the early 1970s, using withered flowers prepared for the graves of his family's home, Jokanji Temple in Minowa. However, after his wife Yoko died of illness in 1990, he became absorbed in photographing flowers, and released series such as "Color Scenery", "Flower Song" and "Erotic Flowers". He captures flowers in a variety of ways, from close-ups to setting them in a vase, even things that emit fresh, vivid colors and are sometimes decaying. This book can be said to be a culmination of Araki's flower photography, from those that give a sense of still life-like tranquility to those that depict them as sensual and lascivious, typical of Araki, and those that paint the petals with paint. The book also includes a new painting, "Flower Painting." Signed and illustrated by the photographer .
