This is a photo book by Italian female photographer Susanna Pozzoli. Pozzoli earned a master's degree in film and multimedia criticism from the Sorbonne University in Paris and later studied photography. Since then, she has held numerous solo exhibitions worldwide and is regarded as a promising young Italian photographer. This book is the result of a three-year project Pozzoli undertook after moving to New York. It features interiors of private homes, schools, churches, cafes, bars, and more in Harlem. Once a thriving African community, Harlem is now experiencing a surge in international immigrants, rising rents, and frequent relocations. Despite this, the strong power of the deeply rooted community and the breath of its residents remain. Pozzoli, renowned for her work that primarily avoids portraits and instead captures the human face and the atmosphere within, expresses the ever-changing landscape of Harlem through its interiors with her delicate, feminine perspective and rich, Italian color palette.
