Chikuma Photo Gallery, a series of poster-sized photographs published in 1971 and 1972. Hiroshi Hamatani, Kishin Shinoyama, Yoshikazu Shirakawa, Yoichi Midorikawa, Taikichi Irie, Yoshihiro Tachiki, Ikko Narahara, and Eikoh Hosoe are the eight representatives of postwar Japanese photography history. This book "Man and Woman" is written by Hosoe, who served as a bird, and consists of 12 illustrations including excerpts from the 1st photo book of the same name. Created over the course of a year from 1959 to 1960, when he belonged to the group of photographers "VIVO" that he formed with Shomei Tomatsu and Ikko Narahara, this work was presented at Hosoe's second solo exhibition, and has been widely recognized as a Japanese photography criticism. It is also a work that won the House Association Newcomer Award. Since "Tsukuma Photo Gallery" is a collection of self-selected works, Hosoe says in this book, "I have an unusual attachment to this work." Butoh dancer Tatsumi Hijikata, his apprentices, and female models participate in this work. The photographic expression becomes more vivid when viewed in large format.
