A photo collection by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers, "The Diary of a Crazy Old Man -2011.3.11→ (Signed)". Influenced by his father, a clog craftsman and amateur photographer, he started taking photographs, and after graduating from the Department of Photographic Printing Engineering at Chiba University's Faculty of Engineering, he joined Dentsu. While taking advertising photos, he used the company's equipment to explore new photographic art, and in the 1970s he released sensational works such as "Oh Japan" and "Sentimental Journey". This book is composed of photographs "taken over a three-month period from March 11, 2011, until June 11" (from the obi), and the title is a reference to Katsushika Hokusai, who in his mid-70s took the name "The Crazy Old Man Manji". The 283 photographs in the book show Araki's everyday gaze, but all of them are overlapped with lines that look like scratches. "Rather than stopping at the shooting, the act of photography is restarted by scratching the negative. Destruction must lead to regeneration" (from the obi). It may seem like a visualization of the enormous damage and pain, but by doing so, it conveys a unique message that only Araki could have conveyed. Signed by the photographer .
