Cuba is a collection of works by American photographer David Alan Harvey. Born in San Francisco in 1944, Harvey began taking photographs at the age of 11, using a Leica camera he bought with money he saved from part-time work. After graduating from the University of Missouri, where he majored in journalism, he got married. Although he had children, he was in a difficult situation without a teacher or a job. However, his friend Charles suggested that he investigate the realities of black people's lives and publish a book about them in the turbulent times of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement. Harvey thought that instead of taking snapshots, he wanted to take more intimate photos by living with black people, so he went into the homes of black families and self-published a documentary photo essay of the situation (Tell It Like It Is (1968)). After that, he worked for National Geographic for a long time, and became a member of Magnum Photos in the 1990s. This book is a collection of images from Cuba, which was published by National Geographic.
