Japanese photographer Kiyoshi Fujikawa's photo book ``Buraku''. Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1930, Fujikawa worked as a news photographer for a long time after graduating from a photography school in Tokyo. He is famous for his works including the poster photos for the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, as well as his works that include Japanese pottery, ceramics, and crafts, but it was ``Buraku Issues'' that made him famous as a photographer. Fujikawa has been documenting Buraku issues, which have long been considered taboo due to human rights issues, for nearly 30 years, and the content can be called his life's work. This book was edited and published by the Buraku Issue Research Institute in 1960. It records the lives and work of the buraku people, who live in harsh conditions on the periphery of society, and although it is the size of a paperback, it conveys the dense atmosphere that exists there. This book won the Japan Photo Critics Association Newcomer's Award.
