"Kyoto Hakujo" is a photo collection by leading Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. Inspired by his father, a geta craftsman and amateur photographer, he began photography. After graduating from the Department of Photographic Printing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chiba University, he joined Dentsu. While working there, he took advertising photos while exploring new forms of photography using the company's equipment. Since the 1970s, he has produced sensational works that are still talked about today, such as "Oh Japan" and "Sentimental Journey." His exceptional, sometimes radical nudes and warm-hearted snapshots have captivated photography fans worldwide, and he has published over 500 photobooks to date. This book is a collection of works originally published in 1996, capturing the four seasons of Kyoto. It depicts a rendezvous with a Kyoto woman in the twilight of the Gion Festival in the summer of 1994. It is a collection of snapshots of Kyoto, blending the charm and sensuality of the ancient capital, from Kiyotaki Falls in autumn, Gion in winter, and Kiyamachi with cherry blossoms falling. "Watching the Yamahoko procession from the window of my Kyoto hotel made me feel a little sentimental. The view from this room is the same as the view from my honeymoon." (From this book).
