Subway (Acceptable) is a photo book by Bruce Davidson, one of America's leading photographers. Davidson was one of the original members of Magnum Photos and continues to actively publish his work. This book is a masterpiece published in 1986 and is still being reprinted in revised versions. It is a book of color plates taken in the New York subway in the early 1980s. The subway is a human zoo that has been the motif of Walker Evans, Hellen Levitt, and Nobuyoshi Araki. The New York subway in particular is a world of fear that even local residents were afraid to approach, even though it has become safe enough for tourists to use it now. I also admire the journalistic achievement of stepping into that hell, respecting the subject, taking such intimate photographs, and depicting the unknown behind-the-scenes world of New York. The number of plates and editing are different from the current revised edition, and this first edition, which is full of youth and more dynamic, is also recommended. (Library removed book)
