A photo collection by Japanese photographer Kenshichi Hirashiki, "Dad is a Photographer / The Last Works of Kenshichi Hirashiki." Kenshichi Hirashiki is a representative Okinawan photographer who was active from the late 1960s to the 2000s. In the late 1960s, the Okinawa Struggle broke out on the island over the joint statement of the Japanese and US governments and the return of Okinawa to the mainland, and many photographers visited the island and presented the reality of the situation through their photographs. In the midst of this, he did not turn his attention to the mainstream of the struggle, but continued to pursue the people living on the "island" and capture Okinawa with an inner gaze. Before the return, women who sold themselves in restaurants and brothels to support their families were instead considered "shameful" after the return and were chased away to entertainment districts and islands. His works depicting the lives of people living before and after the war are a "microcosm" of Okinawa that tells of a unique history. The works of Kenshichi Hirashiki, who avoided the front stage and continued to "shoot shadows" backstage, show a different image of Okinawa from that of photographers Toshiaki Kanayama and Shomei Tomatsu, who later immigrated to Okinawa. This book is a posthumous collection of works following the now rare "Goat's Lungs" photo collection he left behind during his lifetime. Obi missing.
