"Privat 5: Silvia" is a collection of works by Polish photographer Władysław Pawelec (1923–2004). Known as a pioneer of erotic photography in post-war Poland, Pawelec worked in a wide range of fields, including advertising, fashion, portraits, and female nudes, after his work in scientific photography. He published his work in the magazine "Światowid" from the 1960s, and held his first solo exhibition, "Monika," in Warsaw in 1974. In the 1980s, he expanded his activities abroad and established his own unique sensual photographic expression. This book is the final volume of the five-volume "Privat" series published by DMK in Germany, and contains 24 color photolithographs. Unlike the previous four volumes, which were mainly monochrome, a major feature of this volume is the use of color to depict the female body. Through soft light and shadow, calculated poses, and decorative staging, he painterly portrays the beauty and sensuality of women. This is a fascinating portfolio that showcases the appeal of photography and printmaking, offering insights into the work of an artist who pursued a unique style of nude photography under the socialist regimes of Eastern Europe.
