"Tokyo Zenritsusengan (Signed & Illusted)" is a collection of works by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers. The title of this book literally comes from the "prostate cancer" that Araki suffered from in 2009, and it is a reflection on the turbulent year of 2008-2009 for Araki, who was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery to remove it. The first half includes portraits of Nan Goldin and others, as well as scenes from his hospital stay and post-surgery period, featuring nurses, scenes in bed, and surgical scars. From there, it transitions to his usual "Photography Maniac Old Man's Diary" series, with model KaoRi at the center, interspersed with images of bondage, married women, and Tokyo landscapes. The editing vividly portrays Araki's "view of life and death" as he faced his own "death." Although it has a hardcover vertical design, when opened, the main body is a horizontal softcover, an unusual binding. Incidentally, in the same year, he also published the "Posthumous Work: Sky" series through Shinchosha and Takaishi, and I'm truly impressed by Araki's vitality.
