"Flower Ghost (Signed)," a collection of works by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers, was published in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Art Museum of Nanjing University in 2019. As the title suggests, the book is themed around "flowers." Araki's focus on photographing flowers began after the death of his late wife, Yoko, and he began capturing them with his camera while reflecting on her memory. For Araki, flowers represent "woman," "life," and also symbolize "death." Just as Miyako Ishiuchi, despite questioning herself whether "it would be the end if I started photographing flowers," couldn't refuse a request to photograph her beloved "roses," "flowers" condense various elements that move the human heart. This book also begins with illustrations taken in January 1990, the month Yoko died, and can be considered a collection of Araki's flower photographs, which have since expanded into various works such as "Flower Life," "Flower Melody," "Erotic Flowers," and "Flower Novel."
