"Obsession (Signed)" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Hiroshi Yoda. After graduating from high school, he went to England to study photography at an art school, and later apprenticed under the renowned photographer David Montgomery. In 1966, he established his own studio in London and worked for fashion magazines such as "Harper's & Queen" and "Flair." After returning to Japan in 1972, he worked on advertisements for Shiseido, Hanae Mori, Suntory, and Seibu Department Store, and also published works in magazines such as "Olive" and "Ryuko Tsushin," establishing a unique position in the Japanese advertising and fashion photography world. This book, however, is different from the world of commercial photography and strongly reflects the artist's personal aesthetic sense and inquisitive spirit. He focuses his gaze on objects that change their appearance over time, such as flotsam and jetsam washed ashore and decaying fruit, and delicately captures their form, color, and texture. This collection of works conveys another world of Yoda's photography, where a refined sense of form intersects with an obsession with things that are constantly changing.
