"Memorial 029" is a photobook by Japanese female photographer Mutsumi Yoshida. Byakuya Shobo, which published numerous masterpiece photobooks in the 1980s, including Keizo Kitajima's "New York" and Seiji Kurata's "Flash Up," published Mutsumi Yoshida was in charge of the photography for "Wedding Bell Blues '83 10.15," a self-published photobook of his own wedding by Kunio Fujiwaki, a nonfiction writer known for works such as "The Masked Clown - A Definitive Study of Nobuhiko Kobayashi" (1986) and "The Illusion of Publishing" (1994), who was a former sales department employee of Byakuya Shobo. This book is a photobook that was privately published in 1982, two years earlier. The only text is the opening line, "Love, Fall in Love, Tokyo," and the book consists of snapshots set in Tokyo. This collection of photographs effectively incorporates blur and out-of-focus effects reminiscent of Provoke, and features numerous intriguing images that symbolize one aspect of postwar Japanese photography, including unique compositions, reflections, and extreme close-ups. Its abstract depictions stimulate the reader's imagination, making it a little-known masterpiece of photography.
