"50 × 60" is a photobook by Dutch photographer Toto Frima (1953). Frima, who had long produced self-portraits using a Polaroid SX-70, encountered a large 50 × 60 cm Polaroid camera at the Centre Pompidou studio, which sparked the development of this series. Subsequently, while frequenting the Polaroid studio in Frankfurt, he continued his work, changing his hairstyle, facial expressions, parts of his body, and distance from the camera, transforming himself into various female figures. At first glance, the images may appear to be portraits of different models, but the subject is Frima himself. The enormous Polaroid camera brings his face and body to life with a materiality that is almost life-size, blurring the boundaries between self-image and the female figure of the other.
