"Thaümata" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer and artist Naoko Tamura. Born in Tokushima Prefecture and based in Kyoto, Tamura develops a wide range of expressions, including photography, video, performance, and installation, while traveling between Japan and France. While she has worked on projects such as "The Forest of Sologne," which photographs the La Borde psychiatric hospital in France, and portrait works, she pursues photography that blurs the boundaries between figurative and abstract, and works on the act of seeing itself. This book was created in 2014 after a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and was published in 2015 in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name held at Taka Ishii Gallery Photography Paris.
