"Kanon (Signed)" is a photobook by Japanese photographer Shinpei Yamagami (1984-). Born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Yamagami is a photographer who explores human perception and the relationship with the world with a serene gaze, focusing on the workings of nature and life. He has published works such as the monochrome trilogy "EQUAL," "SOW," and "SPECTRUM," as well as "The Disintegration Loops," "liminal (eyes)," and "Helix," pursuing a unique photographic expression of "seeing as if touching" rather than "capturing the subject." In 2017, he won the Yoshitomo Nara Award at the Daikanyama Photo Fair Competition, and has attracted attention as one of the leading artists in the Japanese photography world in recent years. This book is a collection of works created between "The Disintegration Loops" and "liminal (eyes)." The creation began with a chance encounter with a butterfly that was injured but trying to fly in the mountains, and the butterfly permeates the entire work as a symbolic presence connecting the world and the self. The photobook is structured in three chapters, exploring the past, present, and future, where butterflies, forests, water surfaces, and human presences quietly resonate together, weaving a single perspective on life. The title, "KANON," signifies the overlapping and continuous resonance of individual lives and moments, much like a canon in music. The book includes a contribution by Yoshitaka Haba at the end. The book design is by Satoru Machiguchi. Signed by the photographer .
