"Her Name in Broiler Space / Son Nom De Broiler Space Dans Calcutta Desert" is a collection of works by Hiroko Komatsu, one of Japan's leading contemporary photographers. Having won the 43rd Kimura Ihei Award for Photography in 2018, Komatsu, along with Daisuke Yokota and others, continues to attract significant attention both domestically and internationally as a pioneering photographer of a new era. Having started photography relatively late after attending Osamu Kanemura's workshop, Komatsu transcends the boundaries of "photography" and "photobooks," making "exhibitions using photography" and "the act of using photography" itself the "works of art." Her motifs are discarded materials and dilapidated places, and the "something" seen, encountered, and felt in those places is one of the greatest pleasures of viewing Komatsu's work.
