"The City and All It Holds" is a collection of works by South Korean-born photographer Ronnie Ahn. Raised in Hong Kong and now based in London, Ahn is an internationally renowned fashion photographer, but has also produced works that focus on the relationship between people and places, and intimate connections. This book is a collection of works created in response to her experience returning to Hong Kong during the pandemic. Amidst restrictions on going out and socializing, she re-examined the importance of close relationships such as family, lovers, and friends, and photographed 10 groups of young people and families in places that hold special meaning for each of them. The photographs quietly capture the atmosphere of Hong Kong in the early 2020s, but the focus of the work is not the social situation itself, but the connections between people. The images, in which natural intimacy and refined visual sensibility coexist, reflect the sense of belonging and forms of mutual support among people living in the city.
