"The Elements: Air and Water; Part 1 / 1970-1980" is a photobook by Joel Meyelowitz, one of America's leading photographers. As a pioneer of color photography from the 1970s, he attracted attention alongside William Eggleston and others. In his early career, he published color landscape works, gaining fame with "Cape Light" (1979) and "St. Louis and the Arch" (1980), and solidified his position with "Wild Flowers" (1983), a collection of street snapshots with "flowers" as its motif. In recent years, his creative activity has not slowed down, and he has published numerous photobooks and books on photographic techniques, and in the spring of 2021, the long-awaited "Wild Flowers" was reprinted. This book was published in conjunction with a solo exhibition held at a gallery in Tokyo in 2008, and is a two-volume set consisting of one volume featuring Olympic divers and another volume of his representative works taken in the 70s and 80s.
