"69 Obscene Scenes" by Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki (1940-). As a leading figure in personal photography, Araki has traversed the relationship between everyday life and eros, love and death, and since "Sentimental Journey" and "Winter Journey," he has continuously updated his images of the city and the body. This book is a limited edition photobook published by Taka Ishii Gallery in 2009 to coincide with his 69th birthday, and was created in response to his solo exhibition of the same name. The 69 monochrome photographs condense fragments of the city where vulgarity and tranquility intersect, demonstrating the undiminished intensity of his desires and gaze, even at this milestone of age. Playfully using the number "69," this collection re-examines the relationship between eros and time, which Araki has been exploring for many years. Limited to 500 copies. (Cover is faded and soiled.)
