This is a photography information magazine published by "Frog (Film Round Gallery)," a photography gallery located in Yotsuya from the early 1990s. It was published monthly from January 1989 until the October 1991 issue, for a total of 34 issues. After that, "Frog" stopped publishing the magazine and continued its activities as "mole," mainly focusing on planning and managing photography exhibitions and publishing photobooks, and was a central figure in the independent gallery scene of the 1990s. Incidentally, the predecessor of "Frog" was a free space called "Luna House," where a group called YCM (Yotsuya Contemporary Museum), run by several photographer members, held various exhibitions. "Frog Letter / Frog Gazette" not only introduces photo exhibitions held at this gallery, but also includes essays and papers by photographers and critics. Starting with Shinzo Shimao in the first issue, contributions have included Shiro Yasushi Suzuki, Shunji Ito, and Kiyoshi Otsuji, while Ryuichi Kaneko and Kotaro Iizawa also contributed regular serials, with Kaneko providing commentary on renowned photobooks. Although it has a strong "reading material" element, it is an extremely valuable source of information for understanding the work and trends of "contemporary" photographers in the 1990s.
