"In the Still Life" is a collection of works by American photographer Charles H. Traub (1945-). Having studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he has captured the everyday life of cities and the gestures of people in vivid colors since the 1970s. Through diverse series such as his early "Beach," "Lunchtime" which captures urban crowds, and "Dolce Via" which documents Italy in the 1980s, he has explored the art of chance encounters and composition. This book is a re-edited collection of snapshots taken over twenty years during his travels and in the midst of everyday life, which had long been stored away. By sealing trivial collisions and unexpected juxtapositions that occur on street corners within the frame like still lifes, spontaneous moments emerge with new relationships. This collection is a condensed representation of Traub's perspective, which questions the boundary between artifice and chance while capturing the absurdity and poetic beauty of everyday life.
