"Into the Silence (Second Edition)" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Yasuhiro Ogawa (1968–). Ogawa is a photographer who has traveled the world, capturing the atmosphere of places and the presence of people with a quiet gaze, and has previously published collections such as "Lost in Kyoto" and "Tokyo Silence." This book is part of a series inspired by Matsuo Basho's travelogue "Oku no Hosomichi," and compiles photographs taken by the artist over approximately 10 years while traveling by train in the Tohoku region. Fragments of snow-covered railway tracks, nighttime cityscapes, views from train windows, and figures that suddenly appear are layered together, revealing layers of quiet emotions that shift with the passage of time during the journey. Rather than being a record of landscapes, it is characterized by a series of images that capture moments of silence and introspection that suddenly occur during the journey, and can be seen as an attempt to reinterpret the spirit of travel in Japanese literature as a contemporary photographic expression. This is the second edition, published in 2024, and the editor is also Michitaka Ota.
