"Empty White Room (With OBI)" is a photo collection by Yurie Nagashima, one of Japan's leading female photographers. In 1993, as a 20-year-old art student, she made a stunning debut with a series of nude portraits of her family, winning the Parco Award at the "Tokyo Urbanart #2" exhibition. She moved to the United States in 1995 and studied at the California Institute of the Arts, where she photographed the skate scene and road culture. In 2000, she won the Kimura Ihei Photography Award for her photo collection "PASTIME PARADISE," a compilation of photographs from her university days (along with other award recipients, including HIROMIX and Mika Ninagawa). In recent years, she has also become a prolific writer, winning the Kodansha Essay Award (2010) for her short story collection "Memories of the Back." This book is the second book published in 1995, following her first self-portrait collection "YURIE NAGASHIMA" (Fuga Shobo). An intimate book capturing close friends from their school days.
