"The Master V" is a collection of works by German photographer Juergen Teller (1964-). Since the 1990s, he has garnered attention for his unique style, which simultaneously exposes staged and raw images, straddling the boundaries of fashion photography and art. Even in his advertising and portraiture, Teller rejects idealization, consistently placing himself and his subjects on an equal footing, continually questioning the very nature of the photographer's existence. This is the fifth volume in the "Masters" series, launched in 2005. In a unified format of compact, textless images, Teller pays repeated homage to those he considers "masters." His diverse subjects, including chess master Garry Kasparov, British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, and designer Demna Gvasalia, intersect across genres such as fashion, still life, and landscape. The repetitive structure, which combines respect and humor, subtly challenges the concept of "master" while quietly highlighting the photographer's own photographic identity.
