"The Map (Reprint Edition)" is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Kikuji Kawada. A member of the VIVO photography collective, along with Tomatsu Shomei, Narahara Ikko, Hosoe Eikoh, Sato Akira, and Tanno Akira, Kawada is considered one of the driving forces behind the recent global trend in postwar Japanese photography. Despite his overwhelming popularity and renown, Kawada has published only a few photobooks. However, in recent years, he has attracted renewed attention with the release of "Memories of Distant Places 1951-1966," "The Last Cosmology," and a new edition of "Map," considered a milestone in the history of Japanese photography. This book is a reprint of "The Map," originally published by Akio Nagasawa in 2014. While it has previously been reprinted by Getsuyosha in 2005 and by MACK in the UK in 2021, this is the closest edition to the original. (Probably an AP edition, unsigned and unnumbered.)
