Emmett is a collection of works by American photographer Ron Jude (1965-). Born in Covina, California, and raised in Idaho, Jude earned a BFA from Boise State University and an MFA from Louisiana State University. He is a photographer and educator who continues to work in the field. His work quietly explores the intersecting relationships between people, places, nature, and memory, capturing the American landscape and the traces of time in subtle tones. This book features a selection of previously unpublished negatives taken in central Idaho in the early 1980s, transforming the appearance and atmosphere of the place into a visual experience that seems to resurface even today. Empty landscapes, architecture illuminated by soft light, and objects exposed to time appear as if they are floating between presence and disappearance in a passing moment. With each page, the viewer is drawn to the margins of memory and the critical points of the landscape, and cannot help but reconsider how "forgotten moments" are remembered through the medium of photography.
