Sento (Pink Cover) is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Masayuki Yoshinaga. Born in Juso, Osaka in 1964, his father was in prison at the time. He spent his youth in Juso as a delinquent and moved to Izu to escape debt. He met a British woman there, pursued her, and traveled to Europe, where he discovered photography. After returning to Japan, he passed the university entrance exam and enrolled at Bukkyo University with the goal of becoming a child welfare worker, but was disillusioned with the welfare situation at the time, which relied heavily on subsidies. He embarked on another wandering journey, and once again found himself confronted with photography. He then worked part-time during the day and attended photography school at night, devoting himself to welfare activities through the camera. This book is a collection of works set in Sento, one of Yoshinaga's early works. It depicts the public bathhouse he has frequented as a place of relaxation since he was a rebellious teenager. This book is full of Yoshinaga's unique humanity, capturing everyday scenes of naked men relaxing, entering a sauna, washing their bodies, and soaking in a bathtub. Five cover designs available. Pink cover.
