"YURIE NAGASHIMA (With OBI)" is a collection of works by Yurie Nagashima, one of Japan's leading female photographers. While a student at Musashino Art University, she presented nude self-portraits of herself and her family at the "Urbanart #2" exhibition held at Parco in 1993, which garnered attention. Her photobook "PASTIME PARADISE" (2000), a compilation of photographs from her university days, won the Kimura Ihei Photography Award (also awarded by HIROMIX and Mika Ninagawa). In recent years, she has also been active as a writer, winning the Kodansha Essay Award (2010) for her short story collection "Memories of the Back." This book, Nagashima's first photobook, published in 1995 upon her graduation from university, features her own self-nudes. In her own living spaces, from an apartment room to a unit bathroom and a park, she shows various expressions, from her everyday appearance with short hair and a T-shirt to her uniform, pigtails, and wig, resembling a showgirl, as if questioning the nature of women and their sexuality (eroticism). This book also gives a sense of the transience and fragility of youth. Comes with a dust jacket (but has damage).
