"In-Between -12 Kanemura Osamu: Germany, Finland" is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Osamu Kanemura. After studying experimental film at the Image Forum Film Institute in his twenties, Kanemura enrolled at Tokyo College of Photography, where he studied photography under Kiyoshi Suzuki. He continued to take photographs while working part-time as a photography school instructor and newspaper delivery boy. In 1996, just over thirty, he was selected as one of six photographers to receive international attention at a special exhibition at MoMA. The following year, he received the Photographic Society of Japan Newcomer's Award and the 13th Higashikawa Award for New Artists. In 2000, he became the second-youngest recipient of the 19th Domon Ken Award. He is one of Japan's leading contemporary photographers, having published numerous masterpieces, including "I Can Tell" and "Spider's Strategy." This book is part of a series of works by Japanese photographers produced as part of "Europe Today," a project organized by the EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee to capture the diverse changes taking place in Europe. This is the first photo book by Kanemura Osamu, who is known primarily for his photographs of Japan and Tokyo, to be shot overseas in Germany and Finland.
