"My Love, Yoko / Yoko My Love (First Edition)" is a photobook by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading postwar photographers. It was part of the "Nobuyoshi Araki: Sentimental Journeys 1971-2017" exhibition held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in 2017. The subject of the photographs is undoubtedly his late wife, Yoko. This book is a collection of early works featuring Yoko, a muse who Araki himself said "turned me into a photographer." Masahisa Fukase also published a photobook featuring his first wife, Yoko, in the Sonorama series, titled "Yohko," and this "My Love, Yoko" is equally stunning. Yoko herself tells us she was drawn to Araki, who told her "his pensive expression is beautiful." Before their marriage, he gifted her a collection of Modigliani's art, and she commemorated the proposal with a collection of Hans Bellmer's art. This book is also a fascinating read. First edition.
