Japanese photographer Yasuhiro Yoshioka presents Avant-garde 60's / Avant-garde Sixties. He made his debut at the 1961 Yomiuri Independent Exhibition, but was forced to withdraw his works for being deemed obscene. In 1962, he self-published his first photo book, primarily consisting of those withdrawn works. He pursued avant-garde experimental expression through the use of strong monochrome contrasts and collage to depict the human body. His early work was highly praised by the master Man Ray. He subsequently made a name for himself with stills of artists such as Kobo Abe, Hiroshi Teshigahara, and Nagisa Oshima, and even produced radically erotic works featuring the sex symbol Yoshihiro Wakabayashi, making him a leading figure in avant-garde photography in the 1960s alongside Eikoh Hosoe. This 300-page work introduces Yoshioka's works in chronological order, including "Yoshioka Yasuhiro Works Collection (1st)," "Atlas of Human Sex," "Beast Love," "Yoshihiro Wakabayashi," "Sodom's Paradise," and "One, Two, Theree," and also includes over 100 pages of "notes" from the photographer himself.
