This is a collection of works by Shoji Ueda, one of Japan's leading postwar photographers. While his name was already well-known in the photography world due to his prewar contributions to numerous camera magazines, it is said that Ueda's name really rose to national prominence after he was nominated for the "Contemporary Film Series (10 volumes, 10 photographers)" (Camera Mainichi editor-in-chief Shoji Yamagishi) and published in the early 1970s, resulting in the publication of his collection, "Children's Calendar." At the time, amid the prevalence of hard-hitting works typified by Provoke and others, Ueda's meticulously staged, hushed, almost "silent" style stood out as a refreshing and distinctive choice. Yamagishi's foresight in selecting Ueda as one of the limited number of photographers to receive this honor cannot be overlooked. This book is a catalogue published in conjunction with an exhibition held at Tokyo Station Gallery in 1993, while Ueda was still alive. It is the perfect volume for summarizing Ueda's career. Signed by the photographer .
