"Hong Kong Yesterday" is a photobook by Fan Ho, a photographer and filmmaker born in Shanghai who was active in Hong Kong. Born in Shanghai in 1931, Fan Ho moved to Hong Kong in 1949 after the war. He continuously captured on camera the turbulent decades of Hong Kong, from its transition from British territory to rapid economic development and its return to China in 1997. After working as an actor from the 1960s onward, he became a full-fledged film director after working as an assistant, leaving behind nearly 30 works. The numerous images, captured with exceptional lighting and composition, are full of beauty reminiscent of movie scenes, rich in humanity and romance. Fan Ho has received approximately 300 awards to date, and his works are permanently held in numerous museums around the world, including MoMA. This book is a representative collection of his works, published in 2006 and currently in its fifth edition. Fan Ho, described by a renowned gallerist as a "direct descendant of the Bauhaus," is a captivating reader with his numerous images full of sculptural beauty and poetic sentiment. 4th edition.
