Litmus Test is a collection of works by Ed Templeton, a multi-artist who is a representative contemporary American photographer and professional skateboarder. In recent years, Ed Templeton has also announced collaborations with his wife, photographer Deanna, and has published many collections of his works. Ed, who was active as a skater and launched his own brand, Toy Machine, was discovered by Aaron Rose, director of the film Beautiful Losers, which depicts American street art from the 1990s and 2000s. Ed exhibited at the Alleged Gallery, which Aaron once ran in New York, and attracted attention with the photo book Teenage Smokers (1999) published at the time, which led to his career as an artist (Mark Gonzales, another popular skater, was also discovered by Aaron). This book is an early work by Japanese publisher Super Labo, and is composed of images taken during a skateboarding tour in Russia.
