Industries is a collection of works by Josef Koudelka (1938-), one of the leading photographers of the 20th century. In his early years, he worked on theater and theatrical photography, gaining recognition for his unique approach, while at the same time gaining experience through his work in gypsy settlements in the Czech Republic, which culminated in the Prague Spring of 1968 (introduced anonymously at the time and awarded the Robert Capa Award). After becoming an exile, he continued to travel around Europe, taking photographs and publishing them as Exils / Exiles, as well as panoramic landscapes such as those seen in Chaos and Wall. This book firmly established his position. This book was presented at the Biennale in 2017 and is composed of the "panoramas" that he began in the mid-1980s. Humans have destroyed nature, and factories and mining facilities that have been created by human hands, and now that their roles have been fulfilled, they are being turned into ruins by human hands and are in danger of being erased. This is a collection of works that is typical of Koudelka, conveying a strong message to us humans through majestic yet chaotic industrial landscapes.
