"Snack" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Yamada Nao. After working in a studio for two years and as an assistant at a photography agency for five years, she went freelance. When the agency closed, she became freelance, but started working part-time at a snack bar to make a living. The "mama" she met there was strong, strict, and feminine. She was also touched by their attentiveness to customers and their wonderful consideration for the female staff, and this inspired her to want to photograph "mama" who had both strength and kindness. Since then, Yamada's journey has continued from Sapporo in Hokkaido in the north to Ishigaki Island in Okinawa in the south, and the journey has taken 10 years. This work is a photo book that includes 164 carefully selected establishments and a total of 177 mamas.
