Voksevaerk is a collection of works by Danish photojournalist Mads-Joachim Rimmer Rasmussen. This book is a documentary that follows students in the Danish education system "Efterskole" for a year. In Denmark, compulsory education is nine years up to junior high school, after which students go on to high school to go to university or vocational school, but before that, there is a boarding school called "Efterskole" where students leave their parents and live and learn with their peers about "what kind of person they are" and "what kind of life they want to live". About 1/4 of the students who graduate from junior high school attend Efterskole, and students gather at schools with their own unique characteristics such as literature, art, and sports, and begin to climb the stairs to "adulthood" through interactions with their peers. This is a wonderful book that depicts a year in which such young people have fun, help each other, sometimes lament, and sometimes cry. Limited to 650 copies.
