"Unsettled City" is a collection of works by Danish photographer Matthias Froslev. Born in Copenhagen in 1988, he is a member of Denmark's proud Magnum Photos, and was formerly an assistant to Jacob Aue Sobol, a world-renowned photographer in the style of high-contrast monochrome depictions, also known for his masterpiece "Sabine." Froslev's dramatic snapshots are his trademark. This is his first book, published in 2019, and is a collection of images taken over a 10-year period in St. Petersburg and Moscow. The following is from the photographer's text listed by the publisher: "I search for and photograph places that I can empathize with and that move me. These photographs are intimately connected to my own life. I search for and photograph love, fear, longing, and my own existence. My photography is an encounter with the city, but also a place of self-discovery, an exploration of the emotions and relationships associated with connecting with people, places, and time." This book was chosen by Todd Hido as one of the best photobooks of 2019. Limited to 800 copies.
