New York is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Keizo Kitajima. It is one of the most highly acclaimed art photo collections that Japan is proud of. After studying at Daido Moriyama's workshop photography school, he started taking snapshots in Okinawa, and then established a self-managed gallery with his comrades, publishing 10 exhibitions and booklets every month with snapshots that captured the powerful impact of Tokyo's nightlife. His approach of "immediately printing and showing what you take" and emphasizing the improvisational nature of photography was highly praised, and he then moved to New York. This book contains selected works from a total of 900 films and 35,000 shots taken by a sniper who was described as a "daytime street killer" in a city filled with a strange atmosphere and a certain kind of fear, using flash. The powerful and energetic works seem to expose the unknown "underside of New York". Winner of the Kimura Ihei Award. No obi.
