Daido Moriyama (1938-) was a member of the group "Provoke" in the late 1960s, and made a big impact on the Japanese photography world with his "Are, Bure, Boke" style. This book is a reprint of Moriyama's first photo book, "Nippon Theater Photo Album," published by Muromachi Shobo in 1968, and was published in 1995 by Shinchosha's Photo Musee, which featured a lineup of famous Japanese photographers such as Kishin Shinoyama, Miyako Ishiuchi, and Koshio Kuwahara. This book is a collaborative work with text by Shuji Terayama, a playwright and poet known for "Tenjo Sajiki" and other works, and is a compilation of Moriyama's early works, which he published in "Camera Mainichi" and other magazines after becoming independent as a photographer in 1964 (the actors from Terayama's Tenjo Sajiki are also included in the photo). In 2009, Nippon Theatre 1965-1970, a collection of photographs from the same period, will be published. As he states, "It was a time of constant questioning of photography and of himself," this book is a record of the various experimental days of the late 1960s. As the format is different from the original, the original plate surface has been reproduced with varnish printing. Comes with a dust jacket.
