"Blue Period Last Summer" is a collection of works by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers. This is a "grand lyric poem of life and death" (from the cover) that was published in two books by Arton in 2005. The works were taken in the 1970s and 1980s and published in the photo magazine "Shashin Jidai" (Photographic Age), which was a huge hit in collaboration with Akira Suei. "Blue Period" depicts a fantastical and somewhat lonely world by bleaching the photos blue with chemicals, and "Last Summer" depicts a sensual world by coloring the images taken in the summer of the year before publication. Since the 1980s, starting with "High School Girl Fake Diary," Nobuyoshi Araki has been actively involved in video expression, and has performed many live performances titled "Arakinema," which combine slide photo illustrations with music. This work is a photo book born from a video work produced and projected as one of the Arakinema, and these two books are full of Araki's unique personal stories that travel between "past and future." Both books are signed by the photographer .
