"Mother's" is a photo collection by Ishiuchi Miyako, one of Japan's leading female photographers. Her photographs, "Yokosuka Story," depict her upbringing in a complicated family environment and her youth in the exotic atmosphere of Yokosuka, reflecting the sense of loss she felt every day. Following this, she released a series of masterpieces, including "APARTMENT" and "The City of Nights." Since 1990, Ishiuchi has shifted her focus from "cities" and "buildings" to "people" and "objects," capturing the invisible backgrounds and stories they possess through close-ups. This work, "1 9 4 7," "Hiroshima," and more recently, "Frida by Ishiuchi," are masterpieces in her "Close-Up Series." Ishiuchi's mother, Miyako, died just as the resentment between them, which had been difficult to communicate with for a long time, finally began to melt away after her father's death. The photographer, who was unable to fully communicate with her mother while she was alive, imprinted her mother's belongings in his photographs as a farewell to her. This timeless masterpiece is a timeless work. Taking her mother's maiden name, Miyako, as a photographer, she moved from monochrome to color photography through photographing her mother's lipstick. This family album depicts the silent conversation between mother and daughter, leading to a turning point for her as a daughter and photographer.
