"In the Heart of the Dark Night" is a collection of works by American photographer George Silas III (1859-1942). Silas, who was a lawyer by trade and later served as a Republican politician and member of the U.S. House of Representatives, is considered the "father of wildlife photography." He developed a variety of techniques to capture wild animals in their natural state, including nighttime strobe photography, remote photography using wire traps, and boat photography using a camera attached to the end of a boat on the river to capture animals in the water. These photographs were published in the magazine National Geographic in the early 1900s and caused a great sensation, and there is an anecdote that President Roosevelt was fascinated by them. This is a collection of about 50 black and white photographs taken by Silas III, who was also active in nature conservation, loved nature and animals, and lived to convey their wonder. The text is in English.
