A collection of works by Japanese photographer Toshiaki Kanayama, "Ant". Born in 1944, he dropped out of Nihon University of the Arts in 1969 and has been working as a freelancer since the 1970s. His brief biography has been written in various camera magazines, and his works have been featured in Camera Jidai, Asahi Camera, and Shashin Jidai, but Toshiaki Kanayama does not have a prominent career. However, even looking at his self-published "Raging Waves: A Turbulent Era" published in 1970, which can be said to be one of the best masterpieces of protest photo books, and "Okinawa Prefecture, Japan" published in 1975, we can see that he has a well-honed nose and technique as a journalist. And although this book does not state the year of publication, it is a collection of works that is thought to have been published after the publication of the above-mentioned collection, but it is a rare book that is not journalism but a collection of works from his own avant-garde creative activities. The entire book is in black and white, but there are almost no straight photographs. Featuring mainly blurred, shaky, and high-contrast visual depictions, this book offers a glimpse into the photographer's depth, giving a sense of the strong aesthetic and artistic sense that lies behind his work as a photojournalist, just like Kenmochi Katsuo.
