Tableaux Vivants is a collection of works by American photographer Tony Ward. Born in Philadelphia in 1955, he studied photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and after graduating, he began his career as a staff photographer for the pharmaceutical giant SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline). In 1984, he opened a studio in his hometown. Although he worked in commercial work for nearly 10 years, he has been engaged in his own creative activities since the 1990s. He has left behind many works on the themes of "sex" and "eros," and his first book, Obsessions, and his second book, Orgasm, both published in 1998, were popular and solidified Ward's reputation. This book, his third work, is a book on the theme of "living painting," a performance in which men and women dressed in costumes recreate paintings in a stationary state, and is an ambitious work full of creativity and storytelling.
