Asakusa is a collection of works by Dutch photographer Ronin de Goude. Currently based in The Hague, near Amsterdam, a city blessed with sea and sand dunes, the photographer is particular about shooting and printing on film, and is rich in creating intimate and dramatic images from local communities to underground scenes. As the title suggests, this is a drama set in Asakusa, Japan. Impressed by Japanese tattooing "Wabori," de Goude visited Japan in 2011 and visited the legendary tattoo artist, the first Horiwa, but was unable to do so due to illness. Instead, he was able to deepen his friendship with Horiwa's son and disciple, Horiwawaka (who later took the name Horiwa), and captured on camera his work and the works he created for his customers. These precious images are compiled into a wonderful photo book with vivid art direction and editing by Koichi Ino, who uses a red base.
