A collection of works by Japanese photographer Shin Yanagisawa, "Shin Yanagisawa 1958-2008 (Sample)". Shin Yanagisawa is one of Japan's leading postwar photographers, who has received worldwide acclaim despite his limited output. He decided to pursue photography while attending the prestigious Shonan High School, and after dropping out of Kuwasawa Design, made a spectacular debut in Minolta Camera's PR magazine "Rokkor". However, he was later diagnosed with tuberculosis and took a year of recuperation. After his return, he was described by the famous photography critic Shinya Yoshimura as "a phantom master who has fully recovered". Shin Yanagisawa is a solitary photographer who said goodbye to commercial photography early on and continued to travel around the country to depict the "drama" of people and climates. This book was published in a limited edition of 500 copies by Only Photography, a German publisher that has published collections of works by many Japanese photographers and is well-known for its high content and quality. The book contains illustrations published in magazines such as Camera Mainichi and Asahi Camera from the 1960s until the 1980s when he suffered from cancer, and is divided into the following sections: "Traces of the City - Life", "Night - Play", "People - Portraits", "Environment - Winter, Transformation, Sea", and "Sex - Travel".
